We encourage customers to refer to our terms and conditions detailed below, which were last updated in February 2020.

If you have any queries or concerns about the following, please contact us by phone on 01245 248665.

Your Pet’s Medication & Injuries

We require all owners to notify us, prior to the booking period, of any current or previous injuries your pet(s) have experienced. Likewise, to inform us fully of any medications and/or treatments that will be required to be given to your pet(s) during the booking period.

Note: it is mandatory to gain explicit agreement from us that we will accept the injured animal and/or administer any necessary medication or treatments prior to your pet’s arrival at Bylake. Furthermore, we expect, prior to arrival, owners to clearly instruct and gain explicit agreement with us regarding any changes needed to your pet’s medication/ treatment regime during the booking period.

Please note, we can only agree to administer necessary medication to your pet(s) between the hours of 9am and 6pm. As such, if your pet(s) require medication outside these hours we will sadly be unable to accept your booking. We strongly advise owners to consult with their vet, prior to the booking period, if there are any doubts or concerns resulting from this policy.

Owners take full responsibility for providing a sufficient supply of medication for the entire duration of the booking. We also strongly recommend owners supply an extra supply of medication to cover any eventualities that may create an unplanned extension of the booking period (delays, cancelled flights etc.).

Bylake Boarding Kennels and Cattery reserve the right to refuse administering medication to your pet in the case of: not being fully notified about the need prior to arrival, your pet being unwilling or unable to take the medication, if your pet’s subsequent distress presents a risk of physical injury to staff, or if the medication itself presents a health / safety risk to staff.

Although we will always endeavour to administer medication in accordance to owners’ specific instruction, Bylake cannot guarantee that medication will be administered in this way in every instance. As such, Bylake Boarding Kennels and Cattery accept no responsibility for any medication given to your pet, either with or without owners’ consent.

In the event that our staff are unable to administer medication (typically if the animal is unwilling or unable to take the medication) as instructed by the owner during the booking period, we will contact and instruct a qualified veterinary surgeon to administer the medication. Please note, any medical costs incurred will be at the owners expense.

Should a booking be cancelled due to any injury / medication / treatment related issues (as detailed above), meaning we are unable to accept the booking, our normal cancellation terms apply (see Cancellation Policy below).

Your Pet’s Health & Vaccinations

Our terms and conditions work to safeguard the health and welfare of all animals boarding at Bylake Kennels and Cattery.

Dogs must be fully vaccinated, including against, distemper, parvovirus, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza, and infectious tracheobronchitis (kennel cough). Up to date vaccination certificates should be produced on arrival and entry to kennels can be refused if vaccinations are not up to date. If there is any uncertainty regarding vaccination requirements, we recommend owners consult with their vet well before the booking period. Animals may enter Bylake Kennels 14 days from their final vaccine. It should be noted that vaccines do not provide 100% protection against tracheobronchitis (kennel cough), as such Bylake Kennels will not be liable should your dog contract kennel cough whilst staying with us.

Cats must also be fully vaccinated, with owners presenting valid vaccination certificates against Feline Leukemia, Feline Infectious Enteritis, and upper respiratory infections (Cat Flu) prior to entry into our cattery. Annual booster vaccinations should be given 10 or more days prior to arrival. Note, we will not accept any pregnant female cats, female cats in season, or un-neutered males over seven months or age.

On arrival, we will ask for details about your pet(s)’ most recent flea and worm treatments. Should your cat or dog have flea or worm infestation, this will be treated prior to entry into our kennels / cattery at the owner’s expense.

To safeguard the welfare of all our boarding animals, we cannot accept into our kennels or cattery, any animal suffering from, or suspected to be suffering from, any infectious disease. On arrival we will examine your pet(s) thoroughly and reserve the right to refuse entry of any animal that shows sign of ill health. As necessary, we will act on the advice of a qualified veterinary surgeon.

By agreeing to our terms and conditions, owners give authority to Bylake Boarding Kennels and Cattery on their behalf to treat or authorise treatment for their pet(s) whilst boarding with us.

Boarding

Regardless of the time of arrival/ departure, you will be charged for full days of boarding from the day of arrival (booking start date) and the day of departure (booking end date).

Unless owners request otherwise, dogs / cats from the same household are boarded within a shared pen. Animals from different households are not boarded in shared pens, only in separate individual pens.

Owners are welcome to bring their pet’s bedding with them for the duration of their stay but we are ultimately not responsible for the bedding whilst it is in our care. We however do not allow food bowls to be brought with your pet as these are strictly provided by us for the duration of your pet’s stay.

Bookings

We are unable to guarantee a specific allocated pen for your pet whilst staying at Bylake and reserve the right to re-allocate the specific pen(s) allocated for your pet at the time of booking. Likewise, we reserve the right to move your pet(s) to different pens during period of boarding with us.

Late Arrival / Early Collection and Booking Amendments

In the event that owners arrive with their pet(s) after the agreed booking start date and / or return before the agreed booking end date, they will still be charged for the full boarding period.

Should an animal not be collected by close of business (4.30pm Mon-Fri, 4.15pm Saturday) on the agreed booking end date, the animal(s) concerned will only be released to the owner on the following working day (again within working hours). Furthermore, owners will be charged for a full extra day. Subsequent extra days boarded will be charged for at our current daily rate.
